The “Children of Abraham” Initiative/Project
The “Children of Abraham” project started in California in 2007. Earlier this year, it was reinstated, in Fredericksburg, VA.
The Project utilizes the leverage of inter-religious understanding and inter-community friendship to bring people together in building harmonious communities.
Misconceptions, misinformation, and lack of knowledge threaten to destroy our societal cohesive fabric. Groups with specific agenda and special interests are using religion to divide people; “divide and conquer”. Attempts to spread fear among the different religious communities have shaken our communal relationships. We must not let that continue. The voice of evil seems strong because the masses are silent. We are empowering the evil doers when we do nothing to combat these negativities. Action or inaction: these are really both actions on different sides of the issue. Nothing is neutral.
The mission of this Initiative/Project is to unite the community in diversity; with focus on our common humanity, Adam connection, Noah connection, Shem connection, Abraham connection, and our common values.
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted. Quran 49:13
We live at a time in history where the adherents of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have undergone a succession of divisions, controversies, power struggles, deep tensions and disagreements. This has created a need for serious engagement to advance interfaith understanding and cooperation among our communities. It’s time to respect our differences and enjoy our commonalities. Let us, the children of Abraham, celebrate our shared history, lineage, heritage, and values.
Patriarch Abraham has set a role model for our work and paved the way for his blessed children to follow his steps. He is a uniter of all his children; Jewish, Christian, and Muslims.
Father Abraham is a shining example of servitude, certitude, and allegiance to God alone. He formed the bedrock of multi-nations’ unity. His leadership changed the world with his strong sense of justice, courage, confidence, and compassion. He passed his vision, sacrifices for his beliefs, and his great love of humanity to his children; Moses, Jesus, and Mohammad (Peace and blessings be upon all of them).
We are calling on all interfaith leaders, community leaders, and all peace lovers to join hands and be part of the conversation. Let us together purify our society from its ills. Let us unite for this great cause of building harmonious communities and one peaceful world.
